Steve Rubel is at the top of the PR mountain, Walt at Random is at the top of the librarian mountain, Freedom to Tinker is at the top of the Law mountain, and Go Fug Yourself is at the top of the Fashion mountain. How do you get to the top of your blogging mountain?
PubSub released the Community Lists to rank bloggers and from the looks of it, it doesn’t take much to get to the top of a mountain. Although there’s only four categories, from the numbers it looks like it doesn’t take much or at least it’s not impossible. The hardest category looks like PR, which Mr. Rubel is #1 in.
For example, the Fassion list only requires about one post per day with one link per day from another blogger and that will put you into the top 10.
Here’s what Nev says about the new list:
I’m not sure, though, that I’d place too much reliance on such a list as a valid indicator of a blog’s popularity or influence. How do you measure the accuracy of something that produces completely different results compared to other tools like Technorati’s that I mentioned above (and that one is based in large part on how bloggers have listed themselves)? Different ways of measuring add to the confusion and lack of fuller confidence in these offerings.
